FRAGILITY

Fragility can be described as the condition of being delicate or vulnerable. The works submitted for this exhibition embody these characteristics in their forms and associative meanings.
In the work, “Seed of Temptation”, vulnerability is conveyed through the imagery of a dark, protective seed or fruit that has opened to reveal a delicate spine within. An imagery that evokes the sense of one’s emotional self, once shielded, now laid bare and exposed. In this state, an individual is highly vulnerable but has accepted that this condition is essential for emotional and spiritual growth.
The piece “Parousia” is a reflection on the fragility of our physical bodies and, by extension, the fragility of life itself. The foundational element of this piece consists of bones arranged in a delicate lace like pattern. It serves as a visual reminder of the vulnerability and impermanence inherent in our physical form. The translucency found in certain elements further enhances the ephemeral nature of the work. In particular, the transparency of the wasp’s nest, whose form evokes the vulnerable shell of the human body, when the soul departs, leaving behind only a fragile vessel.
