Half of the world’s coral reefs have vanished since 1950. The reasons are all related to man. Climate change, overfishing, pollution and exploitation are devastating to the fragile ecosystems. It is not only the extent of the reefs that has decreased, but the biodiversity has also decreased by over 60%. I have made a brooch with half of the surface full of forms and colours, just like a reef, and the other half is nothing more than a plain surface.

The second brooch is an illustration of how much the populations of the wild vertebrates have declined over the last 50 years. We have lost 73% of our vertebrate species. 73% of the surface is metal, the rest 27 % is fur representing the animals.

These two brooches are simple illustrations of scientifically proven facts.
