Brooch “Round & Round N°2”, 2024
Recycled copper (industrial tube), second hand slipper, steel, 75x75x23 mm
The copper circle is made from an industrial pipe. At the front of the brooch, the slipper rests against an angled edge. A copper wire is soldered into the edge, ensuring that the slipper is held in place at the back and allowing both the front and back of the slipper to be displayed.

In today’s world, where we face significant challenges, this design offers a positive shift: a glimpse into the future where we gain new insights and begin again with what is at hand. This is the core of the design, which centres on the cyclical nature of the circular economy. Rather than viewing waste as the end of a lifecycle, leftover materials are given a second life and become an opportunity for change and renewal.

The round shape of the brooch symbolises the eternal cycle of reuse and transformation. By using material that has lost its original function, the brooch becomes a silent witness to a story of sustainability and conscious design. This thoughtful choice gives the brooch a unique value: it is not just a piece of jewellery, but an object that embodies the power of transformation and serves as a symbol of hope and resilience
