Wired cloisonné, The piece features a window-shaped element made of copper, adorned with wire enamel. It is framed by pure silver border, reminiscent of a window. The theme « Shining Despair » merges two opposing concepts: brilliance and despair. For my entry, I created a brooch in the shape of a window, symbolizing despair as darkness. I represented this despair through a night sky, heavily obscured by dark clouds, so dense that even the moon and stars—symbols of hope—are hidden. It is a moment of utter hopelessness. However, upon closer inspection, the edges of the clouds shimmer with light, reminding us that dawn always follows the night. The clouds eventually drift away, and the sky begins to shine once again.

The phrase « Every cloud has a silver lining » perfectly expresses this concept. Even in the deepest moments of despair, there is always a glimmer of hope. The front of the brooch captures the night sky seen through a window during this dark time. The back of the brooch represents the morning sky, full of brilliance and hope. I used cloisonné, a technique I excel at, to depict these scenes with fine wires and delicate enamel. Through this piece, I aimed to show that despair is not eternal and that hope, like the dawn, is always radiant and full of light.
